Pediatric Urology
The Division of Pediatric Urology at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center is among the top centers in the nation for primary and reoperative surgery of bladder exstrophy, one of the most severe congenital birth defects. We provide comprehensive and compassionate care to diagnose and treat all childhood urological problems in patients around the world.
Our highly trained staff, equipped with the most advanced technology, specializes in the treatment of a wide range of conditions. A collaborative group from pediatric radiology, orthopaedic surgery and urology developed a modern 3D MRI-guided imaging tool, which is used during major surgery for newborns to ensure greater safety and accuracy and can also be used to telementor surgeons around the world.
Christopher and Camden's Story | Pediatric Bladder Exstrophy
With his surgery in April 2023 at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, Camden Mills became the 1,500th patient treated for bladder exstrophy by the pediatric urology team at Johns Hopkins since it started tracking patients in 1975. Christopher Burnis, a former patient of the bladder exstrophy team, reflects on his journey and shares his experience healing at Johns Hopkins.
